To: American Homeowners Resource Center (AHRC)

Date: August 11, 2000

Thank you for your previous letter of support for Assemblywoman Helen Thomson's legislation to ensure that homeowners who live in condominiums and mobilehome parks are entitled to keep a companion pet.

I'm pleased to inform you that AB 860 passed the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday, August 7th, after sitting in the committee for more than a year. The bill will soon be taken up on the Senate Floor, and it should arrive on the Governor's desk by August 31st.

There remains strong opposition to the bill from mobilehome park owners and a number of homeowners associations. Both claim that the bill unnecessarily micromanages their businesses. They have stated that they will now focus all their attention on "forcing a veto" from Governor Gray Davis.

We need you to send a letter of support for AB 860 to Governor Davis. Please do so as soon as possible and be sure to send our office a copy of it. We'll hand deliver an extra set of support letters when he has the bill.
