We regret the reports of Israel's plans to approve additional settlement construction. Continued settlement activity is inconsistent with Israel's commitment under the Roadmap. As the President has said before, the United States does not accept the legitimacy of continued settlement expansion and we urge that it stop. We are working to create a climate in which negotiations can take place, and such actions make it harder to create such a climate. ....Our objective remains to resume meaningful negotiations as soon as possible in pursuit of this goal. We are working with all parties - Israelis, Palestinians, and Arab states -- on the steps they must take to achieve that objective.

ACLU Releases U.S. Army Documents That Depict American Troops' Involvement in Civilian Casualties in Iraq and Afghanistan (9/4/2007) : The American Civil Liberties Union is filing a lawsuit today against the Department of Defense (DoD), demanding that it comply with a Freedom of Information Act request to release documents regarding civilians killed by coalition forces in Iraq and Afghanistan.....Since U.S. troops first set foot in Afghanistan in 2001, the Defense Department has gone to unprecedented lengths to control and suppress information about the human costs of war. Banning photographers on U.S. military bases from covering the arrival of caskets containing the remains of U.S. soldiers killed overseas; Paying Iraqi journalists to write positive accounts of the U.S. war effort; Inviting U.S. journalists to "embed" with military units but requiring them to submit their stories for pre-publication review; Erasing journalists' footage of civilian deaths in Afghanistan; and Refusing to disclose statistics on civilian casualties.

The Foundations of Homeowner Associations and The New America - History of Homeowner Associations by George K. Staropoli (available for the links below). examines America's homeowner associations . It contrasts the two forms of housing available to home buyers in the United States of America - one in constitutionally protected communities with the normal government infrastructure services (roads, parks, libraries etc.), and the other under sevitudes of privatized governments called homeowner associations that strip homeowners of all constitutional protections and subject homeowners to ever-changing one way contracts, liabilities without limits, codes, and restrictions.

The power of the homeowner voice received fresh confirmation today when their self-publishing website was named #1 for homeowner associations. This singular honor is due in no small measure to the tireless efforts of countless homeowners around the country who refuse to let their voices be squelched.
Some members in the "industry" - especially some CAI lawyers - would love to see the website shut down and shut up. But they had not reckoned with the indomitable spirit of homeowners. A home is not just an economic commodity. It is part and parcel of the fabric of ones being.
AHRC urges all its members to keep on writing. Write makes right.
The website ranking AHRC is: http://www.googlerankings.com/index.php

Many homeowner association owners have been reporting fraud by lawyers, managers and board members. Insurance fraud is one of the major areas of fraud. Managers and board members file false information on insurance application forms and lawyers file fraudulent claims. They then milk the reserves and insurance policy millions that you pay for to finace lawyers and managers to fight in the courtrooms to hide the books and records so the fraud is not exposed. If you believe you have been the victim of a fraud, the New Jesey Attorney General Peter Harvey say he wants to hear from you.

Jim Battin, California state senator for Desert Hot Springs, is in hot water with homeowners.
In Desert Crest, a 577 plus trailer park retirement community located in his district, elderly homeowners - some in their 80's and 90's - have been battling the developer and his homeowner association in court for years. Some have even died in the process. One homeowner recently reported that two nephrologists had told him that the projected time for him to go on kidney dialysis had been reduced from five years to one year. He says that it is the stress of all the lawsuits that is causing this.
