Press Release
NATION THANKS HOUSTON CHRONICLE FOR EXPOSING CAI FORECLOSURE RACKET WHICH IS NATIONWIDE

March 20, 2002

By Geneva Kirk Brooks

Houston, Texas -

Houston is not the first to be devastated with more than 15,000 home foreclosure filings by CAI foreclosure racket lawyers recently but HOUSTON IS THE FIRST PLACE WHERE THE LINE WAS DRAWN IN THE SAND, WITH A TEX-MEX BATTLE CRY, "REMEMBER THE ALAMO. DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS. DON'T TREAD ON ME!" and WWWIII began! Just like the Enron racket, we Texans want the CAI-Chubb racket exposed and prosecuted.

In 1973 CAI (Community Associations Institute, Alexandria, Va. insured and emboldend by Chubb Insurance Corp.) devised a method of continuing cleansing neighborhoods of unwanted minority owners by adding helpless, old sick whites to the "minority mix" thereby avoiding violationof the 1964 anti-dicrimination laws.

This is why the racket hit California, Florida, Arizona and Nevada first - easiest prey is sick old widows in the sunshine retirement states - yes, old widows just like Wenonah Blevins of Houston whose $150,000 home was seized by CAI racket lawyers over a trump-ed up $814 fee and auctioned to CAI insiders for $5,000 in a secret "cattle call".

This is the usual procedure of the CAI foreclosure racket: "settle and muzzle" any owners who counter-sue over unconstitutionality of the law then proceed with business "as usual".

Maybe settlement is the "only way out" for some, but we must not be silent about it. CAI-Chubb lawyers asked me, through my attorney in my case where CAI filed a foreclosure on my property and wanted $30,000 in legal fees over "a door needs paint" . I fought back. "Will you settle for $l,000,000?" To which I replied, "Yes, if you will agree that you cannot and will not muzzle me".

Of course they would not do this - they wanted to shut me up and it was worth $1,000.000 to them, but my soul is not for sale. The foreclosure racket gave Wenonah Blevins $300,000 to settle - so, take a lesson, If you must settle, go for the jugular - big time! I told Marion Rosen, Blevins' lawyer, "They offered me a million dollars - so demand a million for widow Blevins. Rosen got Blevins house back and $300,000.00, which is nearly as good.

My office is constantly flooded with the same story, "My homeowner association is charging huge fees and threatening to take my house" to which I reply to them and everyone who is reading this message, "Print leaflets of your problem and distribute it to every home in your community, scheduling a meeting at your house for all those in the community with the same problems to discuss a class action of all victims of the abuse so it can be filed as one case with one lawyer, making the cost very minimal for each victim".

Notice is given to everyone - if an e-mail comes to my computer and it contains information which I can use to educate, alert and fire citizens into action against the terrible foreclosure racket that is destroying all our property rights and freedoms - I WILL USE IT WORLDWIDE AND YOU MUST MAKE NO MISTAKE ABOUT THIS. Everything is fair in love and war, and brothers and sisters, THIS IS WAR AGAINST THE MIGHTY CAI (Community Associations Institute) foreclosure RACKET.

Anyone whose ordeal ends, that sticks around to help others, is A-OK in my book. As we get bigger, we get stronger. CAI can't fend off the truth with spin forever.

I settled my case in mediation on Thursday (Houston, Texas). My personal suit is over but my battle to change things will continue.

The out come was not what I had hoped for and if it were completely up to me my case would be going to trial.

Thank God I decided to seek counsel before mediation and took what I am sure was the best advice and settled.

I want to thank David Kahne and Robin Willis two attorneys who came to my aid pro bono, because they believed in my fight. For those that don't remember my story it made front-page new of the Early Edition of the Sunday Houston Chronicle today, along with the story about Beanie Adolph's wonderful website. I want to thank everyone for giving me support and motivation. I want you all to know that as a member of these groups I did not add much to the conversations, but I was always there reading and taking in information. I did collect a lot of information over the years and I will share and help anyone who needs it.

I have lived in a HOA for seventeen years and never knew this type of abuse exist, until it happened to me. Now that I know, I will not stop until the problem is fixed.

Thanks again everyone!
